Why it is good to be Owen, Part II

These photos are courtesy of S&D's camera card, all from today!! Hopefully at least I will get a good night's sleep out of him! This kid is some busy!

We begin our day by meeting the demonic cat, Maggie.

We then hit the beach, and check out sand between our toes

Seriously? Someone needs to call GQ for me.

Getting down and dirty

Then we move on to a bit of landscaping...

A little R&R in the hammock (with mower in tow, of course!)

No rest for the weary, back to work!

Next we move on to prepping the boat to put in the water

The day wouldn't be right without a tractor ride with Pops!!

Finally, we end our day with hard earned fun at the neighbors!

I don't know about you, but I am exhausted with this kids energy level!

Does this kid know classics or what?

Peek-a-boo!

I have quite a few more pics I wanted to upload to this post, but blogger is having a wee temper tantrum right now and keeps having errors everytime I try to upload. Guess that will have to hold you over for now!

Did I really make something this perfect?

Honestly? He is just perfect. He's handsome, well-spoken, sleeps thru the night, etc etc. Makes me wonder how when I feel so messed up and crazy sometimes I had enough normal in me to make him. Especially with John's crazy southern genes..he really is a miracle.

A big Happy Birthday to John tomorrow! Love you!
and happy birthday to my Grammy Sal. She would have been 88 today.

MWAH!

He went there.

Today was a beautiful spring day. After picking up Owen from daycare, we immediately went outside and were playing for close to an hour. I needed to go to the bathroom, so we needed to come inside.

He informed me, once inside, that "Don't LIKE you."

Multiple times.

It has so just begun...

Time Out Reprise

So the day following our first, immensely traumatizing time out (for me, anyway) We came upon another very valid reason for a TIME.OUT. He was having lunch, and threw his plate filled with mandarin orange wedges all over the floor. The is a valid reason, right? Right.

I advise him that because of throwing the oranges, he is in time out. He cries a bit, throws a bit of a fit. Then? Nothing. He is quite content to sit at the dining room table, looking out the slider and waving at the trees. 2 minutes was up, I told him it was ok to get out of the chair and he says to me "No thank you". No thank you??!! He continued to sit there for another 15 minutes, just talking and blurting things out randomly even tho I compulsively told him it was ok to get down.

It does get easier every time!

Time out

So how do we all feel about time outs? I felt pretty good about them. Until today.

Owen, a very rambuncious now 2 year old, and I were playing, tickling, hugging, etc. He began to bite my leg. I told him STOP, that hurts mommy. (he laughed) I was able to distract him into something else. Then the booger bites me again. Again, STOP, or you are going to have a TIME OUT. (laughter)

About a nanosecond later, he just came up to me and bit me again. I plopped his butt on the couch, said TIME OUT, and walked away. And...here comes the screaming waterworks that instantly became velcro on my leg. I put him back on the couch, and walked away. To that end, he sat and screeched, cried and put on a good show. After 1 minute, I went over, hugged him, told him I loved him, and that had to happen because he hurts when he bites.

And to just ignore him when he is screaming and not understanding why he is being punished? Oh, just rip my beating heart out of my chest. That might hurt a little less.
